Alexander Farquharson is an artist with 30 years of experience working as both an illustrator and a painter. He is also a well respected teacher offering classes in several local art schools as well as privately.

As an illustrator, Mr. Farquharson has been published by over 20 publishers nationwide including: Charlesbridge, Harcourt Brace, Houghton Mifflin, Little, Brown and Company, Macmillan, McGraw-Hill, and Time-Life.  One of his most recent projects, released in July 2008 by Charlesbridge Publishing, is the complete illustrations to The Story of the Samson by Kathleen Benner Duble. It is a story based on the actual history of a 19th century Norwegian sailing ship. Mr Farquharson's previous books for children have also been based in history with subjects such as the Plains Indians, American settlers and colonists, and Alexander the Great.

His work for educational publishing has followed a similiar path, focusing on history, literature, social studies, and science. Of particular note in adult fiction are the mystery novel jackets of Martha Grimes for Little, Brown & Company. Another project that displays Mr Farquharson's diversity of subject matter is the complete illustrations to Honor of the Samurai, a card game put out by Gamewright, Inc.

As an oil painter, Mr Farquharson primarily works in landscape and still life themes.  His landscapes are both plein air and studio paintings that reflect his love of rural New England.  His paintings are widely displayed in several New England art galleries as well as one person and group shows, and they are in private collections throughout the United States.
